Kate Mosse lights up the Cathedral

@katemossewriter lit up the Cathedral last night with the shining light of her passion for the F word; ‘fairness’

Her latest book, Feminist History for Every Day of the Year, is dedicated to putting women back into history, acknowledging their achievements and contributions to society alongside their better known male counterparts.

Kate said that once her teenage self noticed the absence of women she couldn’t unsee it - and she realised that the story she was being told was only half of the real story.

During the pandemic, Kate posted on social media asking for the name of a woman or girl people felt should be better known or who they would like to celebrate and the results were overwhelming. Kate’s stories have always put girls and women centre stage and now she wanted to do the same for some of these real-life heroines, people who have been overlooked and underappreciated.

Importantly, Kate emphasised that nothing about true feminism is aimed at diminishing or removing men, it’s just about getting a bigger table and brining more chairs.

As a born and bred Cicestrian, Kate was particularly thrilled to welcome students from her old school @chichesterhighsch to the event, and their squeals of delight were infectious!

Huge thanks to Kate, to Chichester Cathedral, Waterstones & Christian Lewis PR for helping to create such an inspiring and uplifting evening 💫
